Vintage Asian basket with lid.
Lovely herringbone pattern rattan basket.
 
This gorgeous, middle sized handwoven rice storage basket probably by the Tagbanwa tribe of Palawan of the Philippines boasts an attractive shape and squared lid. 

The Tagbanwa tribe is known for their basket weaving. 
These baskets tend to come in three general sizes. 
The largest is called tibong and is used for storing a cavan (98.28 liters) of rice, the medium is called tabig and is used for storing and carrying rice and smallest is called tingkop. It is used for storing rice seeds. 

I think this basket, which is about 30cm high would be considered a tabig.  
A perfect and unique storage vessel, this well-crafted basket will make a statement wherever it is placed.
 
The distinctive aspect of this basket is its rich variation in color of the herringbone and as such has great visual impact in a sizable basket.
There are two rattan-strap loops which I suppose were to secure lid to the basket.
The basket is attached to a wood platform that is woven to the basket, to keep the basket bottom off of the ground, as typical for this style.
This stunning basket is crafted of split bamboo woven on a rattan frame.

Condition: 
The basket is in beautiful vintage shape, with typical vintage wear.  
The basket has be cleaned with a dry cloth and a dry brush, only lightly.
